Toronto Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup With the Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their maiden championship series since 1993 by beating the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 series victory in the seven-game series. They will now face the defending champions, who are the reigning title, in the upcoming Fall Classic.
"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, the nation," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now slugged twenty-three October home runs, making him third in history behind Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another person in the world that I'd choose in that spot besides Springer with his October magic," said Schneider.
The Mariners, after leading the early in the series, continue to be the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's painful" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but commended their performance this season.
"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we ended up on the losing end of this one," he added.
Toronto's team claimed the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
