The English squad will embark on their Euro 2028 adventure at the Manchester City’s stadium, provided that they secure the anticipated passage for a championship hosted across the bulk of Britain and the Irish Republic.

City’s stadium has not hosted an England men’s fixture since eight years ago, when the visitors were defeated 2-1 in a exhibition match, but is almost certain to stage the national team for their opening fixture on June 10, 2028.

The team are scheduled to play their final two group matches at Wembley, but, should they win Group B, their last-16 tie would take place at the Newcastle stadium. Placing second would mean beginning the elimination stage at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Tournament Kickoff and Rally

The tournament was inaugurated at an ceremony in Piccadilly Circus on Wednesday night. Key representatives from the tournament organizers and the organizing bodies were heckled as they entered the location by around fifty pro-Palestine demonstrators, who urged Israel to be expelled from global football because of the Gaza crisis.

Signs were held up with slogans stating “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while protesters shouted: “Kick Israel out.”

Championship Fixture List

The opening game of Euro 2028 will be played at the Cardiff’s stadium in Cardiff, on Friday 9 June, a game that will include the Welsh team if they qualify.

Wembley Stadium will host both semi-finals and the title decider, which will be staged on a Sunday in July 2028 with a start time at late afternoon.

It is expected that an earlier start, which will also be implemented for European club finals from next season, will cater to family audiences and help reach a more diverse set of fans.

Host Nations

The Irish team are due to play their initial fixture at the Aviva Stadium and the Scottish team would do the same at Hampden Park.

The national sides of all four hosts will participate in the qualifying tournament; two guaranteed slots will be set aside for any that fail to qualify for the tournament through the standard process.

Locations and Playoffs

The Birmingham venue and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium finalize the nine host stadiums. Every stadium will hold at least one knockout match, with the quarter-finals staged at every host’s main arena.

The draw for the qualifiers will be staged in Belfast, which was removed as a venue city last year when it became clear the proposed venue could not be upgraded in time, on 6 December 2026.
