Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”

In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, his comments indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.

At the US event, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
