New Information Surface Regarding the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
New information has come to light concerning the tragic demises of renowned film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account citing a person close to the family, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the residence. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Another individual who had gone with her contacted 911. Subsequently, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, as well as the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant questioned several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
Furthermore pushed back against widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to reports of alleged "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
As stated by law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
