Liverpool's Star Issues Statement to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has revealed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the group of players in the wake of the controversy from his public comments.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following voicing frustrations and stating his relationship with manager had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I apologise.’”
Arne Slot has chosen not to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the dressing room atmosphere remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
The midfielder also suggested that a player's desire to start is less of an issue. “It's clear there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
Their results have stayed unbeaten in the games following the situation. Jones believes the Salah's words were never meant to destabilise the squad.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a good place,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and securing victories.”
