Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- physician has been charged with carrying out assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
