Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Propel Together for Palestine Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The project aims to provide aid to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Featured Artists
The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The diverse array of artists featured on Lullaby features a group of well-known figures from the music world. All were part of the benefit event, which reportedly raised a considerable total for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The track blends a mix of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The team running the initiative have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the region was characterized as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of infrastructure reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a handful of millions won't make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is primarily making this cause better known and proving there’s another side to the story.”
The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from later in the month.
